Kona International Market

This is a convenient pick-up point for persons staying in the Kailua Kona area. Enter the Kona International Market from the North entrance at the 76 gas station. Keep driving through the parking lot past the 76 gas station and around to the back parking area of the International Market. Look for our sign posted at the bus stop pull out “Mauna Kea Summit Adventures Pick-up”, and park your car in the adjacent stalls. Near the bus stop you will find a shaded courtyard with restrooms, picnic tables, and benches. Please stay close to the pick-up point so our guides can easily find you.

This PU site serves the following locations and attractions:

  • Downtown Kailua Kona hotels (Kona Seaside, King Kamehameha, Holiday Inn) 10 minutes drive
  • Alii Drive Hotels (5-15 min. drive)
  • Keauhou Hotels including the Sheraton (20-30 mins drive)
  • City of Refuge (1:00)
  • Magic Sands beach (25 mins.) showers, dressing rooms
  • Kahaluu Beach (25 mins.) showers , dressing etc.
  • Old Airport Park (10 mins) showers, dressing etc

Starbucks @ Queens MarketPlace Waikoloa

The Queens MarketPlace is located at 69-201 Waikoloa Beach Dr

Please arrive at least 15 minutes early and carry your cell phone in case you are delayed. The shopping center management ask that we park on the back side of the complex. Our tour will also return you to the back parking lot at the end of the tour.

  • South Kohala Coast Hotels including: Marriott Waikoloa (5mins walkable), Hilton Waikoloa (20mins), Mauna Lani Bay (20mins), Fairmont Orchid, Mauna Lani (20mins), Hapuna Prince (25mins), Mauna Kea Beach (25mins), Four Seasons Hualalai (25mins), Kona Village resort (25mins), Bay Club (5 mins) and . All driving times are approximate. We recommend you check out the location prior to pickup.
  • Hapuna beach (one of the finest white sands beaches in the world) (20 mins) showers , dressing rooms etc.
  • Waipio Valley (60 mins) dressing available at he lookout , showers available at Anaehoomalu Bay with dressing rooms.
  • North Kohala (including Kayaking) (1:10) showers available at Hapuna beach, Luncheon in Kawaihai.

Highway 190/ D. Inouye Highway Junction

HWY 190/ Inouye HWY JCT. pick up point is a good place for anyone visiting the North or Northeast coast of the island. This junction is located at the northwest end of Daniel Inouye Highway, precisely at the 14 mile marker on highway 190. If driving from Waimea, head South on Hwy. 190 for 14 miles. If you are approaching the Jct. from the North or South, you will see a large green sign warning “Saddle Road 200 1/2 mile” Once you have arrived at the 190/200 Junction, turn up the hill and start heading East on Hwy 200. Drive only 100 yards up the hill, then please park your vehicle on the right-hand side of the road. A good point of reference would be just beyond the 55 MPH sign.

  • Waipio Valley (1:10 mins.)
  • Waimea (20 mins.)
  • Hawi (1:10 mins)

Gilbert Kahele Recreation Park

This PU point is best for those joining us from the East or Southeast parts of the island. The driving time from Volcano Village is approximately 1.5 hours.

Take the Saddle Road (route 200) from Hilo . The recreation area (ex-MK state park) will be at mile post 34 and very well marked. It will take about 1 hour to drive the often curvy and foggy road. There is cell service on most parts of the road. Please leave your cell phone turned on in case we should need to reach you.

NOTE: Due to changing rules; We will no longer pick up passengers at the Mauna Kea Visitor Center (as of 2/12/16).
